Who We Are:
Karla Haas Moskowitz, Ph.D.
Dr. Karla Haas Moskowitz has been a licensed classroom teacher since 1980 with pre-K through university experience. Her undergraduate work is in Counseling in Special Education and Social Services.
She holds a Professional Colorado Teachers License in secondary English and is highly qualified in Social Studies. Dr. Haas Moskowitz received both her K-12 school Principal License in 1990 from the University of Denver and has served as a school principal at different times over the past two decades in both large and small schools serving diverse populations. She holds two Master of Arts degrees; the first in Curriculum and Instruction with a cognate in International Studies from the Center for Teaching International Relations (CTIR) at the University of Denver (1989) and the second is in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Denver (1997). Dr. Haas Moskowitz‘s interdisciplinary Ph.D. is in Political Science and Education from Union Institute and University (1999).
Lisa Martin, M.A.
Ms. Martin is a native of Colorado and attended Denver Public Schools, graduating from South High School in 1981 while also participating in programs at the Career Education Center (CEC) where she traveled to Mexico. Inspired by her passion for social issues, history, gender studies, and law as it pertains to the development of a democratic society, she pursued her BA from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Women‘s Studies.
Prior to entering public education, Ms. Martin, passionate about the culinary arts, worked for over a decade in the restaurant industry in Denver and Seattle. She returned to Colorado to enter the teaching profession, inspired by her increasing desire to serve her community and guided by her commitment to educational equity and social justice. Ms. Martin earned her teaching license at Fort Lewis College in 1997 with an endorsement in Social Studies.
Recognizing the need to work with older students, particularly those who face significant barriers to finding success in school, work, and life, she decided to seek her MA and endorsement in Special Education at the University of Colorado at Denver in 2005. Ms. Martin has been an educator teacher for over 15 years, has served as a school principal, and is currently a teacher trainer, mentor, and educational consultant.
Currently, she is enrolled at Fielding Graduate University where she is pursuing a doctorate in Human and Organizational Development.
